This week on theBraGuide, we take a look at the Minimizer Bra! Do you need one? Let’s see what a Minimizer is and who might benefit from one. I’ll also tell you what the top 7 bras in this category are. Some are pricey (but always great quality!) and some are budget-friendly!
What’s a Minimizer Bra?
A Minimizer Bra, or Minimizing Bra, is a bra designed to make your chest appear smaller. A great Minimizer Bra will not only accomplish that, but also give your a nice, smooth shape.
Just like Spanx make your mid-section and butt look on point under dresses, a Minimizer Bra does the same to your boobs. It shapes them and makes your chest area look streamlined and smooth. Some will do the same to your back and eliminate back rolls.
Having said that, be careful not to choose a Minimizer that completely squishes your boobs. The bras mentioned below are not going to suffocate you, because they encapsulate each breast. Instead of squeezing them, they redistribute the tissue to make them appear smaller without feeling overly tight.
Do You Need a Minimizer?
This bra is great for those of us that are blessed with big boobs, yet don’t always see it as a blessing. For instance:
- You find that your bust is disproportionate to your body. You want to make it look smaller.
- You don’t like the way your bust looks under clothes. You want a more streamlined look.
- You have a hard time finding a damn shirt that buttons. Minimizers will make it easy.
- You contemplate having a breast reduction surgery. Try this first!
Did you nod your head at any of those statements? If so, you need a Minimizer!
Below are the very best minimizers on the market. There’s something for every budget!
Best Minimizer Bras, Ranked
At the top of this chart, the Slimline Seamless Minimizer Bra by Wacoal (click to check price). It’s available in a wide range of sizes (32 to 40 bands and C to DDD cups). This bra is rather pricey, but it’s worth every penny. I love the smooth look it gives (despite the little embellishments). I have it in nude and can even ge taway with wearing it under white T-Shirts. Smooth and comfy!
The C Magnifique by Chantelle (click to check price), pronounced “say mah-nee-feek” because it’s French for “It’s Magnificent”, truly is what it says. It makes my boobs look glorious. It’s a very close favorite of mine, so close in fact that is was a hard decision to rank it as #2. It’s available in many different colors and several shades of nude for all skin tones. The straps are skinnier yet it’s very supportive, and again, huge size range!
The Bra-llelujah by Spanx (click to check price) might not be for everyone, but it’s a miracle bra for those with a little too much back fat. The design of this bra literally banishes the rolls that typically form on your back when wearing a typical bra. It has a front closure, allowing the back to be one solid band. I couldn’t find any pictures of the back online, but it’s a very wide band made from a spanx-like material. The straps, which are thick and comfy, attach to it. They only have hooks in the front, meaning that they’ll never fall off when you move. The perfect bra if you’re worried about back bulging, for sure.
Above is the Wacoal Full Figure Simple Shaping Minimizer Bra (click to check price). This bra does not have molded cups, which might benefit those of us that want want to make their chest appear as small as possible. Despite the soft cups, it keeps the girls up and perky. This is due to the great construction, typical of Wacoal. It comes in a pack of 2, which means it’s considerable less expensive than other bras mentioned here. Plus you can mix and match!
The Slim Profile Minimizer by Le Mystère is the perfect combination. It acts as a T-Shirt bra and looks seamless under clothes, but it also has a pretty, subtle lace pattern to make it exciting. It lifts and separates the girls well. It’s especially great for those that have a wider root, or “wide” breasts, but also for those that want a flatter shape. Keep in mind that the material is lighter than the first few bras mentioned above!
The Vanity Fair Back Smoothing Full Figure Minimizer (click to check price) is a great inexpensive minimizer for those that are on a budget. The band is wide hides most back buldge relatively well. It’s also a true full figure bra, and the cups cover everything while still leaving some room for deep necklines. Not a bad pick.
The Lilyette Tailored Minimizer (click to check price) is a strapless minimizer bra. If you need to make your chest appear smaller while wearing a strapless dress, look no further! This bra separates your boobs and doesn’t squish them. It still works wonderfully to compress your chest just enough to be considerable. If you have a lot of strapless dresses, you need this one! Did I mention how inexpensive it is?! Oh, and it’s convertible! It comes with optional straps, and you can wear those several ways.
